Hi-tech dairy farm focused on producing quality milk to maximize returns
S. Manjodh Singh belongs to a small farming family with limited land holding (2.5 ha) in Village Nabipur. Initially, the family relied on traditional agriculture along with a small dairy unit started in 2012 with only five Holstein Friesian (HF) cows. The socio-economic condition was modest, with limited income sources and dependence on conventional practices.
The dairy farming practices were mostly traditional, with inadequate focus on scientific feeding, breeding, and housing management. Resources such as quality fodder, modern infrastructure, and advanced dairy equipment were limited.
The major constraint faced was the irregular availability of green fodder and lack of knowledge regarding silage preparation, balanced feeding, and improved herd management. This restricted milk productivity and overall profitability of the enterprise.
