Scientific Advisory Committee Meeting conducted on 14th December 2021
4th Scientific Advisory Committee of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Booh, Tarn Taran, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, was held on 14.12.2021 under the chairmanship of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. Inderjeet Singh. Dr. Nachiket Kotwaliwale, Director-ICAR-CIPHET; Dr. Yashpal Singh, Head LPM, GADVASU, Ludhiana; Sh.Jaskirat Singh DDM, NABARD, Dr. Parvinder Singh, Director Usman, Seed Farm PAU, Tarn Taran; Dr. Balbir Singh Khadda, Deputy Director, KVK Mohali and other officials from the allied departments including Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Soil and Water Conservation, CDPO and various progressive farmers of the district were present in the meeting to provide their valuable suggestions. Dr. Inderjeet Singh suggested that livestock sector can play an important role in enhancing the profit of the farmers. In current scenario, various livestock ventures such as dairy, piggery, goatery and integrated farming system are contributing more in boosting the income of farmers. Besides it, fruits and vegetable production can also contribute substantially for better returns and sufficing the targets of diversification. The Vice Chancellor expressed his happiness that hundred small and marginal farmers from the district has started new livestock and other venture after getting training from KVK and subsequently loan from SBI bank which will certainly bring positive change in the life of farmers. Furthermore, with the formation of Farmer Producer Organization on dairy by KVK Tarn Taran, it will boost up livestock production & value addition of milk for higher return in border area. Dr. Balwinder Kumar, Associate Director, KVK Tarn Taran presented the action taken report of the previous SAC meeting as well as progress report of the previous year and also discussed proposed action plan for the year 2022-23. In this meeting, Dr. Singh, other officials and progressive farmers provided valuable suggestions for framing the future action plan of KVK. In the end, Dr. Balwinder Kumar thanked all the committee members for their participation and valuable suggestions and assured that KVK Tarn Taran will be put their sincere efforts for educating the farmers of the district with regard to agriculture, livestock, fishery aspects and integrated farming system.
