Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Tarn Taran working under the administration control of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana organized an online workshop entitled “Livestock production vis-à-vis Covid-19 pandemic” on 04 June, 2020 from its campus. During this event, about 50 farmers and farm women from Tarn Taran and other districts of Punjab have participated. Initiating the technical session, Dr. Balwinder Kumar, Deputy Director, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Tarn Taran welcomed all the participants and described about livestock status in the district. Dr. H.K Verma, Director Extension Education, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana interacted with livestock & fisheries farmers and motivated them to take a step forward in livestock rearing & fish farming by following veterinary university recommendations in order to escalate their dairy and fishery farm income. He also said that university scientists dedicatedly worked during lockdown period to help dairy farmers through mobile advisory. He highlighted about the training facilities provided by the university to potential and existing dairy farmers. Dr. A. P. S. Sethi, Department of Animal Nutrition, College of Veterinary Science, GADVASU, Ludhiana and Dr. R. K. Sharma, Director, Regional Research and Training Centre Talwara explained about feed management practices and solved the gynecology & breeding related issues in dairy animals faced by dairy farmers. Management of livestock in summer season by protecting the animals from heat stress was also shared with the farmers. Dr. Balwinder Kumar shared information related to fodder and milk production for dairy animals. Dr. Kumar also urged farmers to take a pledge to take care of environment by planting trees and through avoiding crops residue burning on the coming World Environment Day.
