Five days vocational training programme on Insight different techniques in value addition of livestock products for self employment was organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, GADVASU, Booh, TarnTaran from 24.02.2020 to 28.02.2020 at village Sabhra district Tarn Taran. A total number of 45 farmers and farm women have participated in this training programme. Dr. Balwinder Kumar, Deputy Director (Training), KVK, Tarn Taran welcomed all the participants and disseminated awareness regarding scope of value addition in the field of livestock sector. Scientific knowledge on various techniques of value addition and its importance was highlighted in this training for self-entrepreneurship of farmers, farm women and rural youth for economic upliftment.
Mrs. Piverjeet Kaur Dhillon, Assistant Professor (Home Science) stressed upon variety of technologies and machinery developed by GADVASU and KVK. She also motivated the trainees to form self help groups in order to establish small scale ventures for value added livestock products. Dr Bhanu Prakash. Ch Assistant Professor (Fisheries) highlighted the importance of value addition in fish products by guiding the participants about numerous cuisines prepared from fish.
Additionally, live demonstration of chicken and pork products were conducted by University experts Dr Pawan Kumar, Assistant Professor, Livestock product technology, Gadvasu, Ludhiana. Besides, Milk value addition techniques such as preparation of paneer, flavored whey drink and sweetened flavored milk have been demonstrated to the trainees by dairy technologists Dr. Rekha Chawla and Dr. Venus Bansal during their exposure visit at College of Dairy Science and Technology, Gadvasu, Ludhiana.
Mrs. Piverjeet Kaur Dhillon proposed vote of thanks at the end of the training and thanked the trainees for making training program a grand success. Farmers expressed their happiness for conducting such informative training programme.
