Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Tarn Taran celebrated Vigilance Awareness Week from 29 October – 03 November, 2018 under the theme “Eradicate Corruption-Make a New India”. During the initiation of event, Dr Balwinder Kumar, Deputy Director (T), KVK, Tarn Taran motivated the participants to practice honest policies. The event was coordinated by Piverjeet Kaur Dhillon, Assistant Professor (Home Science). About 176 citizens (students, farmers and employees) have actively participated in the programme and interacted with KVK scientists and discussed their ideas to improve the working system of society starting from themselves. Integrity pledge was taken up by all the participants. Banners depicting the theme “Eradicate Corruption-Make a New India” in Hindi, Punjabi and English languages have been displayed at KVK campus, schools, colleges and public places such as petrol pump and bus stand at Harike Pattan, District Tarn Taran. The programme was started at Sant Singh Sukha Singh Memorial Public School, Booh, Tarn Taran on 29 October, 2018. An essay writing competition was organized among the students and students with good writing skills and ideas to curtail corruption were honored with prizes. Further, S. Navjot Singh Brar, Assistant Professor (Agronomy) made the beneficiaries aware about the importance of the week. Another interaction session was held on 30 October, 2018 at Sardar Chainchal Singh Memorial Government Senior Secondary School, Kirtowal. The session was begun with integrity pledge and slogan writing competition was commenced between the partakers. Outstanding performers were awarded. Further, the KVK scientists disseminated the knowledge about transparent working practices to the trainees in order to achieve smooth and safe workflow. They elaborated various methods to generate vigilance awareness among general masses. On 31 October, 2018, a meeting cum group discussion was executed at KVK campus involving all the employees of the institute in the same. Gram Sabha was arranged at Village Harike on 01 November, 2018 to make the public aware about rules and regulations aimed at public cooperation to maintain transparency in administrative system. A debate competition was also organized at Guru Nanak Dev University College, Patti, Tarn Taran on 02 November, 2018. Trainees enthuestically discussed the drawbacks of corrupt acts and solutions to curb this menace. Winners have been honored with appreciation awards. Dr. Anil Kumar, Assistant Professor (Soil Science) delivered lecture focusing on “Effective ways to shun malpractices in working system”. The event was sum up with the message “Contribute in making New India through honest practices”. At the end, all the scientists thanked the listeners for their precious cooperation.
