Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Booh, Harike, Tarn Taran, is celebrating National Nutrition Week from 01 September to 15 September 2018, under the supervision of Dr. Balvinder Kumar, Deputy Director (Training), Krishi Vigyan Kendra. Under this program, Dr. Piverjeet Kaur Dhillon, Home scientist of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, has delivered lecture on the nutritional requirements of pregnant women, lactating mothers, adolescent girls, newborns and school students in the villages adopted by KVK. Various sections of the society in several adopted villages of Tarn Taran, such as Booh Havellian, Nabipur, Jindawala, Kirtowal, Pringari, Sabhran, were educated regarding their health and well-being. Besides this, this awareness campaign has been running successfully in different government (Harike, Jindawala, Kirtowal, Pringari) and private (Shaheed Sham Singh Atari Public School, Sabhra) schools, by collaborating with their principals and staff. During this program, Piverjeet Kaur Dhillon encouraged the participants to eat fresh, delicious and nutritious food items and prepare these by spending less time and energy through easy cooking methods. More than 208 participants took part in this program, so far. Anganwadi workers were trained about nutritional requirements of pregnant women, nutritionists, newborns and small children. In addition to this, the Horticulturist of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dr. Nirmal Singh made the trainees aware about the importance of nutrition garden by demonstrating these in schools and households to meet nutritional needs.
