Farmer Welfare Camp on pear cultivation at Village Nabipur

A Farmer Welfare Camp was organised at Village Nabipur of Block Patti by KVK, Tarn Taran of GADVASU, Ludhiana. Dr. Balwinder Kumar, Deputy Director (Training) KVK welcomed and thank all present and advised farmers to increase horticultural practices. He further stressed that burning paddy straw the soil health is getting detracted along with ill efforts on animal and human health. In the camp use of machinery for proper management of paddy straw was explained. Camp incharge Sh. Nirmal Singh, Asst. Prof. (Horticulture) informed that highest cultivation of pear in Tarn Taran District comes in Patti Block and farmers are earning good income from it. Special invitee Dr. Savrit Khera and Dr. Parminder Kaur from Farm Advisory Service Centre, Tarn Taran explained about pear cultivation diseases and their preventions in detail. Dr. Navjot Singh Asst. Prof. (Agronomy) from KVK advised about cultivation of peas and other vegetable crops and non burning of paddy straw, he advised for burial of paddy in place of burning. Dr. Kamal Jagdeep Singh (Horticulture Development Officer) from Department of Horticulture, Tarn Taran informed about various facilities and subsidies from horticulture department to the farmers. Experts visited the pear orchard of farmer Navtej Singh of Village Nabipur. About 50 farmers from Village Nabipur and Ex-Sarpanch Sh.
