Vocational Training Programme on 'Fish Production and Its Value addition’ from 17.11.2017 to 24.11.2017

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, GADVASU, Booh, Tarn Taran organized a vocational training programme on ‘Fish Production and Its Value addition’ from 17.11.2017 to 24.11.2017 at its Campus. Thirty one (31) farmers (Male 24 & Female 07) belonging to Harike Pattan village of Distt. Tarn Taran had participated in the training course. This vocational training programme was conducted under RKVY-11 and ICAR-14 schemes. Scientific knowledge on various aspects of fish farming as well as value addition especially on preparation of fish pickles was practically demonstrated in this training for skill development and self entrepreneurship of farmers and farm women.

Speaking on the inaugural session of the training programme, Deputy Director (Training) and Course Director, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, stressed upon the development of skill of the rural population of the Tarn Taran. Fish Production and its Value addition training helps farmers, farm women and rural youth in developing the agricultural entrepreneurship through diversification. Further he also highlighted various facilities developed and provided by GADVASU and KVK.

Course Coordinators, Dr Bhanu Prakash. Ch and Dr Shashi Pal highlighted the lectures from different aspects of fish farming and value addition. The topics covered in the training course by course coordinators were on value addition of fish products, preparation of fish pickles and fish fingers, preparation of byproducts, construction of fish pond, different fish species suitable for culture, fish feeding and harvesting, problems and solutions in fish farming along with integration farming systems, etc.  On the last day of training practically demonstrated on fish pickle and fish fingers preparation like hands on training.

Also during the training programme World Fisheries Day on 21st November 2017 was celebrated in village Harike Pattan. Dr. Bhanu Prakash explained about importance of fisheries and world fisheries day celebrations which reminds us to focus on managing global fisheries to ensure sustainable stocks and healthy culturable and oceans ecosystem. Dr. Anil Kumar (Asst. Prof), Sarpanch Bhupinder Singh was participated and shared their valuable experiences.Dr Bhanu Prakash. Ch proposed the vote of thanks at the valedictory function and thanked the trainees and visiting guests and faculty for their support to make this training programme a success.
