World honey bee day was celebrated by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Tarn Taran on 19th August 2017 (Saturday) at village Choudharywala, Naushera Pannuan, Tarn Taran. The KVK experts interacted with farmers on different aspects of beekeeping and shared their experience on honey bees farming by delivering lectures. In inaugural address Dr Shashi Pal highlighted the importance of the day and said that this programme is being throughout the world today.
Dr Pal emphasized that beekeeping should be adopted as a subsidiary business to raise their income and economic standard. He also discussed the health benefit of honey feeding. Dr Nirmal discussed that honey bees moves from one plant to another to collect nector and play important role in pollination and increasing productivity level of crops. Similarly, Dr Navjot discussed the about diseases management and marketing aspects also. Dr Anil Kumar aware farmers regarding protection of honeybees from adverse impact of pesticides spray. On this occasion S. Jatinder Pal, a progressive farmer interacted with farmers and told the economic benefits of beekeeping business. He also told the different problems arise in the field of beekeeping.
He also encouraged farmers to adopt this business or every farmer should kept at least 2 or 3 honeybee boxes in their field and or in vicinity of the home so that their honey requirement could be met in the home itself. S. Jatinderpal Singh also demonstrated the process of honeybee rearing, honey collection and its management.
